Ten minutes from the lifts.

Winter Park Resort is the main event. Here's what's close by, how to get to the lifts, and what to do on a rest day.

Two mountains: Winter Park and Mary Jane
The resort spans 3,081 skiable acres across both mountains, with a 3,060-foot vertical drop and around 345 inches of snow a year.
Five miles to the base
Winter Park Resort sits about five miles south of Fraser on US 40, with the town of Winter Park in between.
A free bus, all year
The Lift is a free, year-round bus linking Fraser, downtown Winter Park, the resort, and Granby. Routes change by season, so check the current schedule before you plan around a stop.
Or skip the drive: the ski train
Amtrak's Winter Park Express returns for the 2026–27 season, running from Denver Union Station to Winter Park Resort with a stop at the Fraser–Winter Park station. Check Amtrak for this season's dates and fares.
Cross-country at Devil's Thumb Ranch
Just past Fraser in Tabernash, Devil's Thumb Ranch grooms nearly 120 km of Nordic trails. Day passes, rentals, and lessons are open to the public.
Tubing for a rest day
The Fraser Tubing Hill has been sending kids (and parents) downhill since 1971 — no skis required.
Summer

Trails, lakes, and rodeo nights.

When the snow melts, the ski runs become bike trails, and Rocky Mountain National Park and Grand Lake make a day trip north.

Trestle Bike Park and 600 miles of trail
Winter Park Resort runs more than 40 miles of lift-served downhill trails, beginner to pro, and the Winter Park and Fraser area has over 600 miles of trails in all.
The Fraser River Trail
A paved path runs alongside US 40 between Fraser and Old Town Winter Park — good for a family bike ride or walk.
Rocky Mountain National Park, from the west
The park's Grand Lake Entrance sits about two miles north of the town of Grand Lake, near the Kawuneeche Visitor Center.
Grand Lake
The town's namesake is Colorado's largest and deepest natural lake.
Saturday-night rodeo
The High Country Stampede brings pro rodeo to John Work Arena, just west of Fraser, on summer Saturday nights — mutton bustin' included. Check the rodeo's site for this year's dates.
Free Thursday concerts
High Note Thursdays is a free summer concert series in Hideaway Park, downtown Winter Park. Bring a picnic.

In guests' own words

Our condo was spacious and welcoming, perfect for our larger group size. It was a comfortable place to land after busy days exploring! Dan was very quick to reply when we had questions and easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend this condo for a larger group and anyone with kids. It was perfect for us!

Nice property! Just a few minutes' drive to a Safeway, also just minutes from a pretty cool sledding hill that the kids really enjoyed. GREAT WIFI. The bunk room is awesome with super comfortable beds for the kids. There are plenty of extra linens, blankets, pillows, and cleaning supplies. We had a great family vacation and enjoyed our stay!
